However, with that behind them, there are also a few cracks in the overarching idea of Scorn. Without compromising their vision, Ebb managed to raise the funds they needed in making Scorn. This vision was promising, but it also was admittedly expensive for Ebb Software to make. Scorn’s production began with 10 full-time members, but Ebb Software has experienced slow but significant growth since then. Later on, the company acquired enough money from donors and video game fund Kowloon Knights to make Scorn. The company has been trying to get Scorn made since this period, but it had many obstacles on its way. With an interconnected world, Scorn provides dynamic horror gameplay: there is more than one thing to do. Not much is known about Scorn other than its new and careful approach to horror gaming. To take it up a notch, it leaves you there-isolated, lost, and trying to make sense of everything. It throws its players into a world of layered hair-raising fever dreams. Different play styles will be needed to advance.This game is a combination of nightmares and nightmarish fantasies. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. This plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Interaction with the world is realistic - objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls, etc. Players will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. But keep your eyes open - the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing world you’re in. Each region is a maze-like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you. The unsettling environment is a character itself.Įvery location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry.
